Lake Wawasee spans 3,000 acres of clear water in Kosciusko County, northeastern Indiana, near the town of Syracuse. Named for Miami chief Wawasee, the lake has served as a destination for families, boaters, and nature lovers since the late 1800s.
The lake offers 25 miles of shoreline, a maximum depth of 77 feet, and connects to Syracuse Lake via a navigable channel for more than 3,500 combined acres of water. Water clarity is exceptional for the Midwest, with visibility reaching 12 to 15 feet.
Today, over 1,000 lakefront homes and condominiums surround the shore. Summer brings boating, waterskiing, sailing, and fishing. Winter brings ice fishing and snowmobiling. Year-round, the Wawascene app delivers real-time lake conditions, weather alerts, community events, and local news.
