The Wawascene webcam is a 24/7 live HD stream from Morrison Island on Lake Wawasee (the largest natural lake in Indiana), facing west toward the sandbar and Ogden Island, in Syracuse, Kosciusko County. The Lake Wawasee webcam streams live 24/7 in high definition from Morrison Island, near pier 304, facing west across the lake. This is a continuous, always-on view of one of Indiana's most scenic lakefronts, available day and night, in every season.
The webcam first went live in summer 2013, making it one of the longest-running lake cameras in the state with over 13 years of continuous operation. What started as a simple way to check conditions has become a daily ritual for hundreds of lake residents, seasonal visitors, and Wawasee fans watching from across the country.
The live stream is paired with real-time lake conditions including water temperature, lake level, level status, and recent rainfall, giving you a complete picture of what is happening on the water right now.
The camera's westward view captures a wide panorama of Lake Wawasee's Main Channel. On the left side of the frame you can see The Sandbar, a popular gathering spot for boaters in the summer months. On the right side of the frame, Ogden Island anchors the view with its tree-lined shore.
Look further toward the horizon and you can spot the Syracuse water tower rising above the far shoreline, along with several radio towers that mark the western edge of town. The expansive open water in between gives you a clear read on wave height, weather conditions, and visibility at any time of day.
The view changes dramatically with the seasons. Summer brings lush green shorelines and busy boat traffic. Fall paints the trees in brilliant oranges and reds. Winter transforms the lake into a stark, frozen landscape. And spring brings the gradual return of color and activity as the ice melts and the lake comes back to life.
One of the best things about this webcam is the window it provides into year-round life on Lake Wawasee. In summer, the water is alive with pontoons, ski boats, jet skis, and sailboats. Watch for the weekly Thunder Run, when dozens of boats parade across the lake together. On the Fourth of July, the camera captures the fireworks display reflected off the water.
Fall brings quieter days on the lake, with waterfowl returning and the surrounding hardwoods putting on a show of color. Fishermen take advantage of cooler water temperatures as bass and walleye become more active near the surface.
Winter offers its own kind of beauty. When the lake freezes, you can spot ice fishermen setting up shanties, and on windy days, ice boats racing across the surface. Snow-covered shores and dramatic winter skies make for striking views even in the coldest months.
